The brainchild of the 686 team of backcountry explorers comes to fruition in the first-ever GORE-TEX jacket with Hydrastash® Jacket integrated hydration system.
At 686 we understand that sustainability is not a destination but a way of behaving that aims to lessen our impact on the planet. For us, however, sustainability does not end there. We are committed to the fair and equitable treatment of everyone along our supply chain. Our commitment to people and the planet guides us.

Found on our GORE-TEX and GLCR styles, articulation seams are placed in high mobility areas for comfort, room for layering, and to maximize mobility.
The GORE-TEX membrane is created as a series of pores. Each pore is 20,000 times smaller than a water drop, yet large enough for vapor to pass through. This creates the ultimate membrane for keeping the inside of your garment dry while still allowing moisture and perspiration to pass through, effectively regulating your body temperature while keeping you comfortable inside your jacket or pants. GORE-TEX guarantees you will stay dry and warm in any condition, for the life of your garment. All GORE-TEX fabrics are bluesign® approved, meeting the highest environmental standards.
Hydrastash® is an exclusive, patented hydration system discreetly hidden inside your garment. It is simple to use, sustainable, and safe. On demand access to water is provided even when you’re on the lift or in the backcountry without having to carry a bulky water bottle. The system is strategically designed around your center of balance when full and once empty it is nearly weightless. Our pro team gives it their full trust as it is designed to bend upon impact – not break. Hydrastash® is also a part of the solution to decrease the single use waste in the form of water cups at ski resorts.
The seams where pieces of fabric are brought together are the most likely spot for moisture to intrude into a garment. The seam taping process prevents this by making the seams as waterproof as their surrounding fabric. Seams in 686 garments can be fully taped throughout the garment or taped only at critical areas to further ensure quality workmanship and guarantee waterproofing.
This creates a packable system to keep gear in order when not in use. It’s simple: the jacket is folded, rolled, and then the hood bungy tightens around the bundle to keep it that way. This creates organization and increases room in your pack. At the end of the day, you have a bonus roll to be used as a cushion, padding, or pillow.
The fit is perfect and I love the new color! 686 is constantly innovating and I can’t be more excited for the upcoming season! I’m 5’ 8” thin build and the small fit perfectly
